  3. E+ Award Nomination - Life Skills Department (Teacher - Amanda Saunders - Paraprofessionals/Aide - Toni Mcgough,  Megan Strasner, Amy Christiansen, Shelby Fronk, Laura Heiniger, Kaycee Elliott, McKayla Broadhead.) The Life Skill Department was nominated for this award to recognize the contributions of an outstanding team and to emphasize the importance of teamwork. This team has exemplified expectations as they have worked together to lighten each other’s responsibilities on a daily basis.  
  4. End-of-Level Assessments 
    1. Week of April 29 - May 3; Make-up the following week (May 6-10) 
    2. Additional class period included in the bell schedule.  Assessments scheduled after 2nd period.  
  5. Purple Star School Designation 
  • Military-connected students relocate on average 6-9 times during their K-12 education; Nearly 80% of military children report feeling anxiety related to deployment of a parent; Military children face educational gaps due to frequent moves and school transitions; 1 in 4 military children experience symptoms of depression.

  1. Technology News 
    1. Report Cards and Unofficial Transcripts: These documents are now available on the PowerSchool Parent Portal for 7-12 grade students! The report card and unofficial transcript can be found by logging into a parent account, selecting a 7-12 grade student, and choosing Student Reports from the left-hand menu.
    2. Student Password Management- With the change to PowerSchool, students who did not know their passwords were directed to school employees with the right to change the password. account.wsd.net is now functioning! Students can reset their passwords using this site.
    3. Last day for Elementary Chromebook Use is May 17th- During the last week of school techs will be assessing, inventorying, and storing these Chromebooks for the summer. New 7th grade students will be issued new Chromebooks on Back to School Night. More information to come. 
    4. LEARN 2024: Envision; An educational technology conference for all teachers and administrators in WSD. There will be sessions for all levels, tools, and strategies taught by our very own teachers along with guests from UEN, Adobe, Nearpod, and more. 
    5. Digital Learning - Library Media Specialists worked together to revise the Nearpod-based Digital Citizenship lessons (CIPA training). The new trainings are Canvas-based with integrated quizzes/exit tickets.
  2. Administrative Changes Affecting NOJH 
    1. Tyler King will move to West Field High School as an Assistant Principal. 
    2. Neils Hanson will move from Roy Junior High to North Ogden Junior High.

  4. Important Dates: 
    1. Thursday, May 16th - Quarter Incentive Activity Day at Boondocks; (Adjusted bell schedule/One lunch) Those students that have qualified for the incentive activity are posted on the Counseling Bulletin Board (in the hall by the Counseling Office). Students that qualified had a 3.2 or higher GPA, with no N's or U's on citizenship. Students who qualified, but would like to stay at school, the movie Kung Fu Panda 4 will be showing in the morning of the 16th. It has been a great year and we acknowledge all of the student's hard work.
    2. Monday, May 20th -
      1. Awards Assembly 7:00-8:85, small gym
      2. NOJH Talent Assembly 2nd/7th, 3rd/8th, 4th/9th, small gym  
    3. Wednesday, May 22nd - Closing Assembly/Knighting Ceremony 1:36-2:30, big gym
    4. Thursday, May 23rd (Regular School Day) Yearbook Schedule/One Lunch (11:21-11:51); Yearbooks handed out 1st period; 9th Grade students released 6th period (11:55) for 9th Grade Only party (Sponsored by PTSA); 7th & 8th released (1:19) for yearbook signing. 
    5. Friday, May 24th - Last Day of School; Students dismissed (10:59) to participate in yearbook signing. School dismissed at 12:15. 
  5. Counseling Department 
    1. Data Project: Goal Statement - Decrease our top 10 offline 9th grade students, amounts of F’s by 20% by the end of 3rd quarter. The most meaningful outcome will be having our 9th grade students leaving junior high on track to graduate from high school.  In addition, this will help our students to feel confident going into high school and understanding the graduation process and the importance of passing all classes.(Currently, 49 offline 9th graders; 32 t3sted, 37 paid to recover credits, 25 tested out. We have 99 F’s left.   
    2. WOL- Registration begins Monday, April 29th; $70 class fee; register through parent portal, access Tough Base.
