NOJH PTSA General Meeting Minutes

In attendance:

Welcome & Introductions: Kristyn welcomed the group and offered the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Minutes (Keri): Minutes were approved online and posted.

 

Principal’s Report: (Sherry)

  • District Safety Meeting by cones
    • Weber County Sheriff addressed safety issues
    • Assessment of NOJH
      • Walk by doors to ensure they are closed
      • Looking at buzz-in entry system
      • Safety supplies in the classrooms
      • Form school-level safety committee led by Sherry
  • Lunchtime Procedures:
    • Minimizing space where students are unsupervised
    • Looking at improving processes
    • Intramurals in gym are going well
  • Audio enhancements for classrooms
    • New versions have a panic or medical emergency button
    • Piloting the program at WHS before implementing at other schools
    • Current system runs through the PA
    • New system could cost up to $50,000
      • Looking at safety related grants
        • USBOE School Safety Pilot Program Grant-Sherry
      • Technology improvements
  • Substitute training: Sherry will check on process to ensure subs have safety information
  • Admin, counselors, and teachers working to welcome students daily
  • Mental health team meets regularly to discuss plans and observations
  • Administrative interns are coming in over the next few months
    • District will look at needs of schools to determine who goes where
  • District Collaborative Leadership Groups (PLC process) is working well and will get more focus this year.

  • Reviewed funds received and expenditures

 

PTSA Reps: (Kristyn)

  • Christmas Dance 12/16
  • Service Project with assisted living and YCC
  • Valentine’s Day Stomp - Kirstyn will work to choose day/time

 

President’s Report (Kristyn)

  • Christmas Dance 12/16
  • Reflections
    • Bella Holliday will move on
    • Keri will get award for her
  • Christmas Tree Jubilee
    • Kristyn will check with Dayna Jardine to lead this
  • Membership
    • 690 this year, up from 61 in 2020, 619 in 2021
  • Doughnut Day
    • Look at options to distribute doughnuts to those in need
    • Wristbands?
    • This could include admission ticket to the V-day stomp
  • No December Meeting
